What does your service include?
Do they offer extras as far as cut, conditioning, oil infusions , keratin seals etc.
The reason to ask what a service includes is there may be extra cost associated with a service you’re not aware of. Some of these may be extras but some may be essential in the overall outcome of your straightening.
How long have you been straightening hair?
It is important to ask a specialist how long they've been performing these services as it takes many years to become proficient in all types of straightening.
How long have you been doing each type of straightening?
Make sure you ask about specific types of straightening such as Japanese, Keratin, Brazilian, as the stylist may have been doing keratin treatments for 10 years but only recently started doing permanent straightening. Japanese Thermal reconditioning or Permanent straightening requires many hours of training and years of experience to perfect. It is a more sensitive procedure than a keratin or Brazilian blowout and can result in permanent damage to clients hair.
How many Keratin/Permanent straightening services do you perform per week/month?
This is very important. A stylist can claim they have been doing these services for years but may only do one every few months. With these types of services it is important that a stylist is completing multiple keratin and permanent straightening a week in order to possess the ability to perform the best possible straightening.
Do you have clients I can speak with about their results with their services?
Not just a client testimonial or reference but a wonderful resource. Your stylist should be able to give you references specific to your hair type and service received. This way you can hear first hand what to expect during and after your straightening.
What review sites does your straightener use?
In this day and age, one of the most reliable and convenient methods for you to gain confidence in a product or service being provided is by seeing what other people think. Google reviews is the most trusted review platforms\. Make sure that the reviewers are genuine and not fake. Be wary of any site with 100’s of reviews without a single negative, as this can point to fake and/or ‘paid-for’ reviews.
